I Went to the Colosseum in Rome

Colosseum, Rome, Italy.

The Colosseum is an icon of Rome and a must visit while there! Cliche yes, totally touristy and probably going to crowded, but at the very least, a walk by of the place is needed. Seeing the historic structure in person is a surreal experience.

A good day to fight.

When we went, we booked the Colosseum, Underground and Belvedere Tour, that took us through all the levels of the massive beast. Showing us the basement where the animals and fighters were held, a tour of the main floor and a visit to the very top level, usually reserved for the lowliest peasants because of the distance away from the arena, but I think it makes for the best viewing of the Colosseum in modern days. Seeing the view from the top looking down, catching the whole place collected in one frame as an almost bird’s eye view, it really shows off how massive the place really is. One might even say it is… colossal.

Spectators would fill the stands and even have barbecues while watching the fights.
